NYFW: Monique Lhuillier SS13

Monique Lhuillier is always one of my favourite shows to attend at New York Fashion Week. I can't even remember the last time I put on a fancy dress, but season after season she inspires me to try a little harder to pretend to be a lady. And this season was no different.

Her Spring 2013 collection is inspired by water and life of the sea: "Birds, brightly coloured fish, glowing sunlight on water and the luminescence of moonlight waves," according to the show notes she provided.

"Day time silhouettes in digital prints of bold crane fish, and abstract koi... Evening is all about fluidity and movement... shimmering golds, sea glass beading in silhouettes close to the body showing lots of skin to create a very sensual woman for Spring."

The take-away? Little Mermaid chic, yo. And the peplum aint goin' no where.
